System Data[edit]

Devalak System[edit]

The primary is an unnamed ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.778 Sols, a mass of 0.96 Sols, and a diameter of 1.299 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a trace atmosphere inner world, and (II) an exotic atmosphere stormworld. (III) Devalak orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world forms the inner part of the outer system. Orbital positions (V) through (IX) are unavailable due to the presence of the companion star. (X-I) a sparse icy planetoid belt, and (X-II) a large gas giant form the outer part of the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Red Dwarf Subsystem[edit]

The companion is an unnamed red subdwarf star that orbits the primary at a mean distance of 5.41 AU (orbital position (VII), 809.3 million km) and has an orbital period of 12 years 20 days. It has a luminosity of 0.0056 Sols, a mass of 0.124 Sols, and a diameter of 189,000 km. (I) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, and (II) a small gas giant form the outer system. Both worlds retain satellites.

Far Companion Subsystem[edit]

The far companion is an unnamed dim red main sequence star that lies approximately 3,730 AU from the primary. It has a luminosity of 0.0055 Sols, a mass of 0.302 Sols, and a diameter of 444,000 km. (I) a very thin atmosphere radworld, (II) a trace atmosphere worldlet, (III) a small gas giant, and (IV) a ringed large gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(III) Devalak[edit]

(III) Devalak is designated the mainworld. It orbits the primary at a mean distance of 0.65 AU (97.2 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 195 days 9 hours and a rotation period of 22.5 hours. The axial tilt is 21 degrees. Devalak has a diameter of 9,984 km, a density of 5.78 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.82 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, with a mean surface pressure of 2.03 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 20% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 68% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 28°C. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Satellite[edit]

Devalak retains a single natural satellite, a cratered vacuum worldlet named Lysa:

(IIIa) Lysa (known UWP ?100???-?, orbiting at 20 Diameters/200,000 km)

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 314 million km², Water surface area: 214 million km², Land surface area: 100 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Devalak, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (IV) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Devalak system has been studied by the Local Astrographical Survey Project, a part of the Astronomy Department of the University of Selasia.
