Caliburn has the population located in one or more dwarf planets or planetesimals in a co-orbital position, an asteroid belt. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Sword Worlds Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Caliburn, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.

Astrography & Planetology[edit]

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Caliburn has generally been considered a superior source of exploitable resources to Bowman (Spinward Marches 1132), though the Caliburn belt is by no means as extensive as that of Bowman.

For most of their early history, the inhabitants of the Caliburn belt were too scattered and independent to be governed by any central authority, but in 539 they joined together to form the Caliburn Cooperative, which was set up as a company, and empowered to perform a limited number of government functions. The system joined the Imperium in 555 together with Caladbolg and Gunn.

Caliburn is the Latin version of Excalibur, the legendary sword of King Arthur, sometimes also attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Britain.
