Beaumonde is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.

  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
  • It is a member of the Mapepire Cluster in the Mapepire Subsector of The Beyond Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

This high-population world is limited in terms of political influence within the Duchy of Mapepire due to its balkanised state. The capital world of Mapepire Balsayn is pleased by this.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Beaumonde has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Occasional solar megaflares bring bright aurorae and burn off planetary ozone.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Chains of active volcanoes are present on Beaumonde, tainting the atmosphere with their output.

Strong storms drive across the oceans, carving deep valleys into the scattered islands.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Beaumonde is home to two-thirds of the population of the Duchy of Mapepire. Its citizens are concentrated in protected cities on 12 independent island states.

It is the only Mapepire world not to have a branch of the Imperial Express Bank present.

World Starport[edit]

Beaumonde has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Government[edit]

Each of the twelve island states is different. Among them are:

  • Napali: 600 million citizens in a string of arctic islands, a representative democracy
  • Tamara: A military dictatorship
  • Union of Free Islands: A mostly egalitarian socialist welfare state

World Timeline[edit]

  • -600: Deposits of rare metals including lanthanum and hafnium bring mining corporations to the planet.
  • -327: Due to competing claims from large corporations, independent operators, etc., the Corellan League annexes the world in order to arbitrate.
  • 422: Disruptions from the political chaos following the end of the Expeditions against the Aslan cause many of the mining companies to curtail operations.
  • 506: With the population approaching a billion, the planet unites under the socialist Beaumonde Miners Collective and declares its independence from the Corellan League. Owners of nationalised mines petition the League to embargo the world.
  • Circa 510: Infighting between island councils fragments political unity.
  • 659: The fractious island states have all accepted an offer by Mapepire Balsayn to provide new markets. Beaumonde has become the economic core of the Mapepire Cluster.
