• Saragon, a secondary world within the system, is the homeworld of an unnamed methane-breathing Minor Non-Human Race.

• The Inner Belt, a sparse rocky planetoid belt lying within the cold outer system.
• A tiny vacuum worldlet orbiting within the deep outer system. It is designated alpha (α).
• A frigidly cold ice-capped vacuum world orbiting within the deep outer system. It is designated beta (β).
• The Outer Belt, a sparse icy planetoid belt marking the outer edge of the system.

Mainworld Data

Mainworld Size (S)

Argonos is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Argonos has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Argonos has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

Local Sophont

Saragon, a very cold insidious atmosphere secondary world orbiting within the outer system, is the homeworld of an unnamed methane-breathing sophont Minor Race.

• They are generally referred to as Saragon.
• Their population numbers in the tens of millions.
• They are extremely xenophobic and actively avoid contact with "hotworlders".

History & Background (Dossier)

World Starport (St)

Argonos has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)

Argonos has population of 600 sophonts (hundreds).

• This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.

Urbanization

Almost all of the world is wilderness. There is only one urban center:

• Homer (population 600) – the entire population live in and around the starport and startown.

World Technology Level (T)

Argonos possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

• Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
• Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.

These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.

World Law (L)

Argonos has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility

Argonos, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

• It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.
• This noble also oversees Saragon, a cold, insidious atmosphere secondary world with a reclusive native sophont species that orbits in the outer system.

• 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
• 604 to 622: the Imperial Civil War. The region suffers disruption and widespread economic issues.
• 624: the Express Boat Network is established, facilitating communications, trade, and economic growth within the area.
• 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
• 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the system becomes widely available.
