Annistu is a poor, nonindustrial world.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This world has few prospects for economic development.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Annistu Subsector of Far Home Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]

System Data[edit]
Balsadan-Annistu System[edit]
The primary is Balsadan, an orange giant star. It has a luminosity of 350 Sols, a mass of 5.26 Sols, and a diameter of 64.283 million km – the corona of the star extends to 0.21 AU, within orbital position (I). The inner system consists of (I) a hot small gas giant orbiting very close to the surface of the star, (IV) a vacuum inner world, (V) a trace atmosphere inner world, (VI) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (VII) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, and (VIII) an exotic atmosphere hospitable world – orbital positions (II) and (III) are empty. (IX-I) Annistu, designated the mainworld, and (IX-II) a ringed large gas giant have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (X) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (XI) a large gas giant, and (XII) a small gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(IX-I) Annistu[edit]
(IX-I) Annistu is designated the mainworld. It orbits Balsadan at a mean distance of 16.8 AU (2.51 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 30 years 9 days and a rotation period of 74 hours. The axial tilt is 6 degrees. Annistu has a diameter of 8,368 km, a density of 3.78 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.45 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.63 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 22% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 29% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.1m. Mean surface temperature: 46°C. The climate is rated as Hot and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the seas drive across the globe.
Satellites[edit]
Annistu retains two natural satellites, a very thin atmosphere hospitable world named Plom and a vacuum worldlet named Uskar:
- (IX-Ia) Plom (UWP Y322000-0, orbiting at 35 Diameters/295,000 km)
- (IX-Ib) Uskar (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 40 Diameters/335,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 220 million km², Land surface area: 156 million km², Water surface area: 64 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Balsadan-Annistu System[edit]
Annistu, the mainworld, has primitive native life, consisting almost entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Annistu has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Annistu possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government[edit]
Annistu is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to write the policies voted on. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by voting population.
