Native Lifeforms[edit]

Amiens is the homeworld for the Ladybugs, a native minor race that has successfully assimilated into Solomani society. Once a TL-0 race, they have adapted to Amiens’ TL-4 Human society. All wear Human clothes, speak Anglic with a lisping accent, and belong to the Church. Most Solomani farms have Ladybug domestic and farmworkers. Amiens’ Solomani Party arranges for surplus Ladybugs to emigrate to find jobs on other Consolidation of Turin worlds and sometimes to serve as stewards or cargo hands aboard starships.

Amiens is a rich, low-tech Solomani Confederation world located in Ziusudra Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector.

Amiens is named for a Terran city of the same name renowned for being the home to one of the largest Roman Catholic Cathedrals on that world.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

This world has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

This world is governed by a Religious Dictatorship. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy). There is a powerful independent organization, the state religion, which has influence or direct control of the government. Like the bureaucratic governments this may simply be a strong influence with a secular government, have direct influence by controlling who may be in the leadership, or be a direct theocracy where the church leadership and bureaucracy is the government.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

This world has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. Most worlds with this law level may be an Amber Zone or Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. There is no difference between the police and the military. This world is a full-fledged police state. Oppression is legalized, though not routine.

Amiens has been the home to the sophont Ladybug species for millennia prior to contact with Terran settlers from the Turin system. The Ladybugs were a TL-0 species that integrated into the colonizing societies.
