Alderamin, subsector E of the Solomani Rim, is named for the region's brightest star, also known as Alpha Cephei.

  • Like most massive stars, it has no planets, but is circled by the Stralsund asteroid belt, a rich source of many commercially valuable elements.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The first settlers in this subsector were Vilani colonists who arrived at Shululsish in -3900. Few other worlds were settled until the Rule of Man, when Solomani colonists arrived. Their isolation in the Long Night was enlivened by sporadic trade from the Dingir League, the Vegans, and the Easter Concord, and reaver raids from neighbouring Magyar Sector. The latter were followed by Aslan ihatei, who settled Sarmaty in exchange for an agreement to help defend the world.

Alderamin's worlds began trading with the Third Imperium circa 350; most of the subsector became Imperial by 550.

Dissatisfaction with the Imperium in the Civil War era and its immediate aftermath gradually turned most of worlds with majority Solomani populations toward moderate factions of the Solomani Movement.

The subsector escaped the worst bloodshed of the Solomani Rim War. Most Solomani worlds gave only token resistance after the Confederation Navy retreated. Post-war, Vilani-dominated Shululsish was made the subsector capital and an Aslan clan lord and rebel leader from Sarmaty was appointed subsector duke. Putting their history behind them, the Aslan duke and his successors followed an enlightened policy of reconciliation similar to that employed in Harlequin Subsector.

The Alderamin Subsector is defended by 292nd Fleet.

Subsector Summary: 1105[edit]

Alderamin, subsector E of Solomani Rim contains 21 worlds with an estimated population of 100 billion, a per capita income of Cr13,138, and a total economy is BCr1,313,892. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr56,178 through 19 starports (12 Class A, 4 Class B, 2 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 9,332,475 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, four Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, two Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Alderamin maintain two Naval bases, one Way station, and one Scout base. The average technology level is 11 (with most between 8 and 15). The highest technology level is 15 at Shululsish (Solomani Rim 0214) and Yrsai (Solomani Rim 0511).

Alderamin, subsector E of Solomani Rim contains 31 stars and 243 identified planets; 12 monostellar systems, eight binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 17 of the 21 systems (80%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, no Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, two Poor (Po) worlds, four Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Alderamin has an estimated population of 100 billion distributed across nine High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, three Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population worlds are Yrsai (Solomani Rim 0511) and Shululsish (Solomani Rim 0214). The population consists of 2 sophont groups.

Third Imperium[edit]

The Third Imperium has jurisdiction over all of the worlds with an estimated population of 100 billion, a per capita income of Cr13,138, and a total economy is BCr1,313,892. The governments in Third Imperium maintain two Naval bases, one Way station, and one Scout base. The average technology level is 11 (with most between 8 and 15). The highest technology level is 15 at Shululsish (Solomani Rim 0214) and Yrsai (Solomani Rim 0511).

The Third Imperium has an estimated population of 100 billion distributed across nine High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, three Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population worlds are Yrsai (Solomani Rim 0511) and Shululsish (Solomani Rim 0214). The population consists of 2 sophont groups.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Alderamin was originally known as Shululsish Subsector in the First Imperium. Most of this subsector was settled in the last centuries of the Consolidation Wars, largely by core-sector Vilani interested in opening up new worlds in the aftermath of the Vegan campaign.

  • Hoatzin is a low-density world with a dearth of heavy metals. Its industry relies on imports for raw materials, especially from Stralsund Belt. Hoatzin has also established mining colonies on Arukhur and Furioso.
  • The government of Shululsish is a rarity: a participatory democracy on a high population world, made possible by high technology. Each of the world's 30 billion carries a terminal connected to the planetary computer; all eligible voters are polled regularly and important laws are enacted in this fashion. All executive officials are elected for one-month terms. This form of government places a heavy burden on the individual, and the average citizen spends an hour a day in government related activity, both voting and consulting computer net information services for the information needed to make a decision. This governmental system is made possible only because of the leisure time available to workers at this world's tech level; many citizens become government buffs, devoting most of their time to voting on issues and proposing new topics for discussion.
