Akiva is a water world with a world wide ocean and an environment suited to sophonts. The system supports a population between 100 million and one billion. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Argi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Akiva, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdoms of a baron and a viscount. All three are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. This is the homeworld of the Scanian, a Human Chimera. They are 60% of the world's population. This is the homeworld of the Aquan, a Human Chimera. They are 30% of the world's population. During the Long Night this world was named Nigiamush.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

The naval base hosts elements of the 159th Fleet.

Mainworld Conditions[edit]

Due to the extreme cold and gravity most visitors find it necessary to wear Environment Suits during their stay. These suits increase body temperature to species normal while giving support against the effects of gravity and water. These suits, known as 'Exos' can be hired from the starport or from your hotel. Cost is generally about Cr3 per day.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

  • Bawyati: The only native non-aquatic life, insect-forms living within the Batalu Sargasso of Halacuo fern
  • Bhari snail
  • Grag fish: This huge animal grows to 85 metres in length.
  • Zhoam: 12 metre long predatory shark-like creatures. Zhoam are extremely vicious, killing other vertebrates over twice their size.

History and background[edit]

This world has also been known as Gaea.

World Starport (Sp)

Akiva has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Size (S)

Akiva is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

World Atmosphere (A)

Akiva has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Akiva has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

World Population (P)

Akiva has a population of 100,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Government (G)

Akiva has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law Level (L)

Akiva has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Technology Level (TL)

Akiva possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Akiva, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
