Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Aakhri Empire was a pocket empire based out of the Argi Subsector that arose during the Long Night.

  • It was also known as the Slaver Empire.

During the Rule of Man, the Solomani Jiang Kai-Shi family was appointed Imperial Governors to Argi. Despite their cultural differences, the governing family and the Vilani nobles found they had a great deal in common -- mainly avarice and ambition. Together they secretly worked to create a personal stellar empire for themselves in all but name. Together, and with the help of indentured workers transported from poorer regions of Terra, the Vilani nobles and Clan Jiang Kai-Shi helped Argi Subsector to become an industrial powerbase in the region -- before the Long Night arrived. Clan Jiang Kai-Shi and the Vilani nobles (in particular the Luii'khen family) intermarried, and this unified ruling caste founded the Aakhri Empire.

Aakhri Slavery[edit]

Slaves within the Aakhri Empire were forced to wear a plastisteel torc for tracking and psychological purposes. These were silver-colored torcs encoded with their clan, occupation and status using an eight band color code.

Linguistics[edit]

The primary language was Aarani, derived from Old High Vilani.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Empire used its technology to enslave much of Argi and Sapphyre subsectors.

The people of Adakhem were enslaved by the Aakhri, exported throughout the Empire and brutally exploited. The population of Adakhem went from several million inhabitants to less than five thousand in just over a hundred years.

The original colony on Miir failed when a fleet of Aakhri Slavers attacked the settlement and enslaved the entire colony. Those not shipped off to die on slave worlds in Laraa Subsector were slaughtered outright.

Over the centuries the Aakhri became dependent on their slaves for every aspect of their life, including military service. At the time of their collapse the planetary population of Argi was composed mainly of slaves ruled over by a small, decadent master class. The revolt when it occurred was quick and bloody. The surviving Aakhri families were forbidden to ever again hold property or position.

Timeline[edit]

Legacy[edit]

During the Long Night, Sii became a slave world of the Aakhri Empire. By the time of their liberation by Medurma Pact forces, the local population had been so badly treated that over 30% of the population were sterile and approximately 10 million enslaved Sii had been executed. The people still wear a plain plastisteel torc around their necks, similar in appearance to the Aakhri slave collars, as a reminder of the horrors their ancestors faced.

The people of Luushama are descended from the Aakhri. The Arar, as they call themselves after the traditional name for their world, aren't proud of their Aakhri ancestry yet place great value on their Vilani descent. Unfortunately, most visiting Vilani find difficulty in identifying with the Arar society as the population has adapted over the centuries, adopting a weird mix of Vilani traditions and Lancian neuro-technoculture.
