- Civil War breaks out on Joyeuse (Spinward Marches 1123) in the Sword Worlds Confederation and balkanizes the world.
- The Third Empire of Gashikan forms around a cluster of worlds in Trenchan sector; all three confederations in Mendan sector formerly part of the Second Empire associated themselves with the Julian Protectorate.
- Four "Azhanti High Lightning" class ships in ordinary are scrapped after failing examination for modernization. Twenty-eight others are selected to be modernized as frontier cruisers.
