'soenk Subsector is Subsector K of Gzaekfueg Sector.
- It lies within Charted Space.
- It is part of the Vargr Extents.
Description / Specifications[edit]
'soenk Subsector is a prosperous region dominated by Vargr.
- The resources of the subsector are being exploited.
Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]
The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding 'soenk Subsector:
- The subsector is a standard stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Guekuoe system.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within 'soenk Subsector.
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
World Listing[edit]
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
Subsector Summary[edit]
'soenk, subsector K of Gzaekfueg contains 37 worlds with an estimated population of 45 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,688, and a total economy is BCr258,792. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr41 through 27 starports (4 Class A, 5 Class B, 11 Class C, 7 Class D) employing 4,420 people. Driving this interstellar trade are five Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and four Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in 'soenk maintain 15 Corsair bases, and seven Naval bases. The average technology level is 6 (with most between 3 and 9). The highest technology level is 13 at Soru (Gzaekfueg 2227).
'soenk, subsector K of Gzaekfueg contains 54 stars and no identified planets; 23 monostellar systems, 13 binary systems, no trinary systems, and one system with four or more stars. 29 of the 37 systems (78%) have native gas giants. There are three Asteroid (As) belts, four Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, three Poor (Po) worlds, six Vacuum (Va) worlds, and four Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
'soenk has an estimated population of 45 billion distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 24 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Soru (Gzaekfueg 2227). The population consists of 1 sophont groups.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Vilani had contact with the Gvegh, Aekhu and Logaksu before -2400 in regions such as Provence Sector, though the Vargr were initially seen more as a curiosity than a threat. The Vargr in turn learned of the vast, immensely wealthy, and militarily weak human empire, a temptation that was impossible for them to ignore. Within a few decades the Vargr were actively raiding Vilani settlements in Windhorn and Corridor Sectors. The Vilani in turn moved the majority of their defenses towards these areas.
Other Vargr racial groups (the proto-Irilitok, Ovaghoun, Suedzuk and Urzaeng) took longer to find a path around the coreward end of the Windhorn Rift, but when routes were eventually found they made a beeline for the poorly defended coreward edge of the Ziru Sirka and its riches. These regions, already stripped of their meager defenses to prop up sectors further to spinward, were easy prey for the new waves of Vargr. The vast distances the Vargr had to travel limited the numbers of raiders who actually reached the Ziru Sirka: substantially more Vargr found promising worlds en route and decided to settle them instead.
Likely the most diverse subsector in the Ruler of Five polity inside Gzaekfueg Sector, 'oenk Subsector has a goodly dose of everything a Traveller could encounter. Wars, long and short, piracy, trade and commerce abound as all and more pour in from points beyond. It is here that the heaviest fighting between the Urzaeng of Ruler of Five and the Third Empire of Gashikan is staged. Yet, while military strategists gaze hungrily over the border at the Humaniti bulwarked in Siigikhakma Subsector, Corsair activity divides the attention of the naval forces. Often, hard choices between answering distress calls from trade convoys and rendezvous with other naval groups stymies campaigns against Humaniti in Gzaekfueg.
In addition to the above military logistics snarls, three Low-Population, A-rated Starports vie for the charismatic title of subsector Capital (Cp) currently held by Founuer on virtue of population and discovered, local deposits of lanthanum needed for jump fields have placed the belter population under extreme pressure to extract such and other heavy elements from the single belt and collect the hauls at the Beltport freighters bound for Industrial worlds deeper inside Ruler of Five territory. This again causes Founuer to be painted as a target for Corsairs and Gashikan strike forces alike.
Though 'soenk Subector does not enjoy the immense trade route found further spinward, it has a very healthy need for middling and tramp trader vessels. Holding the largest stellar cluster in Gzaekfueg, the war trade and Jump-1 density of worlds is rife with all that the Vargr pack mentality, racial culture and Charisma-fueled fervor signature to the Vargr Extents. Many "free trader" ships of Vargr make cut their teeth in 'soenk Subsector.
Were it not for TNAS-certified designs and detailed assembly instructions manuals, worlds such as Gnurskfonan, Llaedhue, Suzaoen and Founuer of ‘soenk Subsector would not be able to stay in business. For only hyper-religious Llaedhue is the only A-rated Downport and Highport with the sophont power to keep up a healthy turnaround of shipyard refits, repairs and overhauls for visiting spaceships and starships. The others might have higher Tech Levels, but remain impeded by sufficient population to field technicians and crews to service vessels with any scheduling efficiency. Even at 9000 Urzaeng Vargr, the border world Beltport of Founuer is hard pressed for installation and testing to be fully profitable. Most systems to be assembled or installed in receiving hulls are imported thanks to TNAS certification from Industrial worlds manufacturing them. In ‘soenk Subsector only two Industrial worlds are capable of such certified assets. Gazoun at TL 6 and Soru at TL 13 are the only trusted manufacturers of space worthy designs.
