The world serves as the capital for the subsector. The world has a climate with temperatures at the upper range of human endurance. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. Marhaban, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the feifdoms of a baron and the Subsector duke. All three are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This is the homeworld to Bwap, a Minor Race.

  • Alternate orthography: Maharaban.

  1. The Bwap name of Taswabwapeaspa;
  2. The ancient Vilani name of Lentuli;
  3. And the Second Imperium name of Marhaban, Arabic for ‘Hello’.

System Data[edit]

Like all quaternary star systems, Marhaban (EQ 0426) has an extremely complex astrography and the four systems are rich in resources and developable worlds.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Marhaban has a 21 standard hour day, and a 358 day year - remarkably close to Terran standard. Marhaban's axial tilt is very small, however, and seasonal variation in climate is minimal.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426) is known for its rich and highly varied wildlife. Exobiologists from throughout Charted Space come to study the fascinating lifeforms on this world.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

Marhaban's land area consists of a single main continent and a number of archipelagoes and smaller islands in a relatively shallow sea.

Native Sophont (NIL): Bwap[edit]

Marhaban is the homeworld of the Bwaps or Newts, a minor alien species that resemble Terrestrial salamanders more than anything else. Newts are regarded as bureaucrats par excellance, and have been since the days of the Vilani Imperium.

  • Traditional centre of Bwap Culture. Marhaban is the most famous single system within the Imperial Empty Quarter.
  • The Bwap, by far the most widespread minor race in Charted Space are, as such, one of the most respected and revered across the stars. Several important Bwap governing agencies, including the Grand Council of Crechés, are also based on the world.

History and Background[edit]

Marhaban’s decision to swear allegiance to the Third Imperium on 208-015 carried great weight on Bwap creches across Charted Space.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426), as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

World Starport[edit]

The world has a rich Class-A starport.

World Technology Level[edit]

  • This a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.

World Government[edit]

Please see the AAB article Grand Council of Crèches.

World Military[edit]

This world maintains a extremely well-devloped local constabulary and is often garrisoned with Imperial military units.

World Economy[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426) contains numerous replicator plants, research laboratories, and rich interstellar trading corporations. Some believe that the Bwap may develop an indigenous megacorporation in the near future, centered on their prosperous trade empire.

Trade Data[edit]

Trade Data files currently being updated.

World Demographics[edit]

  • Nearly 100% of the population is composed of Bwaps.
  • Less than 10% of the population is composed of baseline humans and other non-human sophonts.

World Culture[edit]

From the human point of view, Bwaps are obsessed with minutiae, patterns, and the order of things. Driven by this internal desire to see everything in its proper place, they make excellent bureaucrats, officials, mathematicians, bookkeepers, scientists, and historians.

  • However, their obsession with ritual and proper conduct can make them difficult to deal with. Those who violate the rituals will be lectured to, at length, on propriety. Dealing with Bwaps takes time, but trying to speed things up only takes more time.

Historical Data[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426) is known for its particularly rich history and has been an astrogrpahic location of interest for many millennia. It was known before the Ziru Sirka, but once Vilani merchants arrived, it has ever since been tied to Imperial Space.
