Margesi is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Vilis Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors.
- Margesi is a member of the Spinward Main.
- Within the Sword Worlds Confederation this system is known as Isenfang.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Margesi is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Margesi is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Margesi has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The atmospheric taint causes a mild allergic reaction, flu-like symptoms, and nausea in almost all humans. The effects last a few days upon initial exposure then subside. [2]
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Margesi has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Margesi is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Margesi has been issued an Amber Zone travel advisory due its location on the border with the Sword Worlds Confederation. Internal disputes within the Confederation all-too-often spill over the border and into the Margesi system.
Margesi was originally settled in -186 by Sword Worlders from Gram who named it Isenfang. Margesi became an Imperial client state in 849, but was annexed by the Sword Worlds Confederation in 983. The Imperium liberated the world during the Fourth Frontier War and Margesi was granted full Imperial membership in 1087.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Margesi has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Margesi has a population of 9,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population has Imperial and Sword Worlder ancestry.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Sagamaal, the language of the Sword Worlds.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Margesi possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Margesi has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
Two nation-states dominate the world, the Republic of Gome and the Kingdom of Evariidi.
- They are rivals but are attempting to find common ground.
World Law (L)[edit]
Margesi has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Margesi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.

Later Historical Eras[edit]
¶ Margesi (SM 1020), TNS newsbriefs, 302-1117[edit]
- Imperial officials have warned Republic of Gome authorities that the notorious Ine Givar terrorist "Snakehead" Ruddock was captured while attempting to use a shipping container to smuggle himself illegally into Margesi Starport. Port authorities believe the Ine Givar have been smuggling operatives into Margesi to disrupt talks between the Republic of Gome and the Kingdom of Evariidi.
- Ruddock and a companion were arrested while attempting to cut their way out of the sealed, 4 dTon-size, standardized cargo container. Also in custody is the crew of the Far Trader Queen Anne Bolyne. SPA is coordinating with INI in the investigation of the incident.
- With more than 400,000 containers passing through Margesi each year, Sharuii Tsang, spokesperson for the port director, said that such infiltration tactics were almost impossible to police, despite the use of sophisticated neural detection equipment.
- "The containers are sometimes transshipped in as little as six hours and we have over 1,000 passing through each day. By the time we realize there is something suspect, the containers are often on planet," he said. "The containers are so thick that the detection equipment is simply not reliable, so random checks are a waste of time," he said.
- Tsang said SPA is relying on intelligence from the IISS and computer-generated analyses of shipping companies and cargoes to detect the illegal shipments.
