The Lunion subsector is the Imperial jumping-off point for the Five Sisters Subsector, as well as the major trade connection with the Sword Worlds Subsector. The majority of Lunion is claimed as Imperial space although a small strip of it is unclaimed neutral space.

Lunion, subsector K of Spinward Marches has 25 worlds, of which 17 have native gas giants. The estimated population for the subsector is 20 billion sophonts (not necessarily humans). There are two High population (Hi) worlds, four Moderate population (Ph) worlds, four Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, ten Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. There are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds versus four Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, and two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds. There are two Rich (Ri) worlds versus two Industrial (In) worlds. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, three Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, two Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds. There are four Naval bases in the subsector, seven Scout bases, and one Way station. The Imperial nobility includes 24 Knights, five Baronets, five Barons, seven Marquises, four Viscounts, two Counts, one Duke, and one Subsector Duke. The highest population world is Strouden (Spinward Marches 2327). The highest tech level is E at Tenalphi (Spinward Marches 1826). The average technology level is 9 (with most between 6 and 11).

The Ling-Standard Products shipyards at Lunion and Strouden are the major shipbuilding points within the entire Spinward Marches Sector. The excellent workmanship, combined with the TL-13 technology, makes LSP products highly sought after.
