Ki has a population between 10,000 and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This is a cold world with an overall climate is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Arnakhish Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ki, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Nirer.
Astrography and planetology
Ki is a cold, highly volcanic world that retains a very thin tainted atmosphere; at the surface the air pressure is just a few millibars below what qualifies as a thin atmosphere. The air contains sulfur compounds and other contaminants, and can only be breathed using a combinations compressor/filter masks.

Ki's oceans are covered by a thick crust of ice but are liquid beneath. Animals are known to dwell in the seas but a properly organized expedition to discover the nature of Ki's aquatic lifeforms has never been undertaken.
There is native life, but on land it probably consists almost entirely of primitive plants. There is strong evidence that animal life exists.
History and background
The community on Ki is self-sufficient in food and produces industrial-grade chemicals which are sold to Likhukam (Dagudashaag 2204). Its major imports include luxuries and high-tech life support equipment.
