Dauni has a population between 10,000 and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Khandi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Dauni, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Zarushbiish.

History and background[edit]

The title of Marquis of Dauni has, for the last five centuries, been held by the oldest offspring of the Duke of Khandi. The most important employer in the system is the shipyard repair yards owned by the ducal family.

The Church of the Brethren have established a monastery atop the Rock of Souls, the highest extinct volcano on the world. Attached to the monastery is a large and well equipped hospital, which caters for a wide range of species. The Rock of Souls is also a favorite climb of low-g mountaineers.
